Network Support Analyst

General Information:

Employee will perform complex technical work in support of the maintenance, operation, and security of the Board's automated information systems, networks, and electronic health records system in the administrative division. Assist in the research of technical issues and new technologies. 
Troubleshoots  problems with local system operations and equipment, including local and wide area network, communications equipment; Researches systems and server upgrades, Coordinates network, systems, and related technology support activities with supervisor. Reviews appropriate security controls in accordance with HIPAA and related security requirements; Support and coordinates work with the Network Administrator, Database Administrator and IT Support Technician. Monitors backup/disaster recovery operations; provides basic user training.

Performs duties involving IT functions including but not limited to network administration, systems administration, security administration, telehealth (Polycom Group 300, Cisco EX 90), telecommunications network (Internet, Intranet, WLAN/LAN/WAN, VPN), computer clients, and user support.

 

Maintains and administers computer networks and related computing environments to ensure availability. This includes server/network hardware, electronic health records, systems software, applications software, databases, and other related technologies (i.e. Router/Firewall, VPN, Wi-Fi, Bandwidth Optimization/Management, Microsoft Windows 7, 10 and Server 2012+, Linux, DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, Hyper-V, Remote Desktop Services, Terminal Services, Apache, SQL/MySQL, Fund Accounting, HRMS, Zimbra Email, EHR, Dell/HP/IBM server hardware).

 



Minimum Training and Experience:

Requires bachelor's degree or above in computer science, information systems, or a related field, supplemented by a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. Appropriate IT certifications preferred. Functional knowledge of networking equipment/operations, IT security, Windows servers/clients, Linux servers, active directory/group policy, remote desktop/terminal services, virtual machines, email services, email/Internet filtering services, SQL/MySQL databases, web server software, mobile technologies, computer hardware, peripheral devices, data storage technologies, encryption technologies, backup/disaster recovery operations, and ability to research and learn new technologies is required. Experience with HIPAA and related security requirements preferred.

 

 



Special Requirements:
 Must have a valid Virginia Driver's License and driving record acceptable to agency standards.
