General Information:
Under general supervision, employee is responsible for providing therapeutic and case management services to those individuals with mental illness, and substance abuse problems; in a variety of settings including jails and community agencies.  Employee delivers direct service to substance abuse and mental health clients through individual, marital, group, and family therapy.   Case management services include consultative and referral services; assistance in identifying living alternatives, employment opportunities, education, and entitlement opportunities; and advocacy and resource development.  Employee coordinates and provides public presentations and training workshops to various groups and agencies on substance abuse prevention and treatment programs.  Employee must exercise considerable initiative and judgment in the effective and efficient administration of departmental programs.  Employee must also exercise tact and courtesy in contact with staff, clients, families, public, and service providers.

Minimum Training and Experience:

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelors degree in Human Services field desired, and 2 to 4 years documented experience with SA Case management, counseling, clinical assessment, or any equivalent combination of experience and training  which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

      SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must possess a valid Virginia Driver's License and driving record acceptable to agency insurance carrier. Must obtain a TB test with satisfactory results within 30 days of employment, and yearly thereafter as required by licensing authority.
