General Information:

Under general supervision, licensed or licensed eligible employee is responsible for providing short term-mobile crisis intervention/stabilization response, case management to children, adolescent and adults experiencing acute crisis related to mental health, substance use, co-occurring disorders and/or significant behavioral challenges that are active or cyclical in nature that may jeopardize current community living situation. Mobile Crisis Response includes mobile response in the home or community of the client to assess, plan, implement, monitor service plans and coordinate care with community partners and stakeholders thereby minimizing the likelihood of inpatient psychiatric treatment and promoting the maintenance of natural and existing supports. Work may be performed in such diverse settings as residential, psychosocial rehabilitation programs, schools, consumers’ homes, and outpatient clinics. Employee will provide after-hours/ weekend mobile crisis response on a scheduled basis for clients.  Services are designed to minimize an individual’s risk of an out of home placement due to acute psychiatric crisis and to link and connect the client to community-based services to continue to stabilize the crisis and prevent recurrences. Employee must exercise considerable initiative and judgment in the effective and efficient administration of departmental programs and community resources.  Employee must also exercise tact and courtesy when in contact with individuals, their families, agency staff, community providers and stakeholders.  Mobile Crisis Response Teams will respond to cross disabilities crisis throughout the MPNN and Colonial CSB catchment area communities.  Employee will manage the mobile crisis team roster/schedule and serve as the clinician on call for consultations during mobile crisis episodes.

Minimum Training and Experience:

Educational attainment of a Master’s or Doctoral degree with an associated professional license or educational attainment that would be required for the following: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP) and be certified by DBHDS as a State Certified Preadmission Screening Clinician within 3 months of hire and has the required knowledge, skills, and abilities as outlined in the current DBHDS and DMAS guidelines for providers of Mobile Crisis Response services.  Completion of Crisis Intervention Training 40-hour course within 12 months of hire.  


Minimum of two years supervised experience in providing crisis mental health services.

Special Requirements:
  • Must possess a valid Virginia Driver's License.
  • Must obtain a TB test with satisfactory results within 30 days of employment and annually thereafter as required by licensing authority.
  • Must maintain current CPR/First Aid certifications.
  • Must complete current Agency behavior management training (MANDT, TOVA, or NVCI) within first year of employment.
  • Must maintain all additional trainings and credentials as required by regulatory, licensing, and payer entities.
