General Information:
Under general supervision, employee is responsible for providing therapeutic and case management services to those individuals with mental illness, and substance abuse problems; in a variety of settings including jails and community agencies.  Employee delivers direct service to substance abuse and mental health clients through individual, marital, group, and family therapy.  Assess social emotional and behavioral development for preschool-aged children, and make necessary referrals. Case management services include consultative and referral services; assistance in identifying living alternatives, employment opportunities, education, and entitlement opportunities; and advocacy and resource development.  Employee provides crisis intervention services on an on-call basis during working hours and after-hours as directed for clients suffering from mental illness or substance abuse problems.  Employee coordinates and provides public presentations and training workshops to various groups and agencies on substance abuse prevention and treatment programs.  Employee must exercise considerable initiative and judgment in the effective and efficient administration of departmental programs.  Employee must also exercise tact and courtesy in contact with staff, clients, families, public, and service providers.

Minimum Training and Experience:

Masters Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or related field, and minimum 2 years experience in counseling, clinical assessment, and case management or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Special Requirements:
Must possess a valid Virginia Driver's License and driving record acceptable to agency insurance carrier. Must obtain a TB test with satisfactory results by first day of employment, and yearly thereafter as required by licensing authority
